Starvation at Somalia (Africa)
In Somalia,
a dry part at kosoamba lived a farmer’s family, they were prosperous and happy
before the population rises up rapidly and the prices of food and supplies
tripled, the worse part is that the rain did not came for the past 4 seasons.
So they’re crops has failed, they had spent they’re money on food but it could
not last till the suffering is over, now they had no money.
The farmer
has a son named ‘Isaac’. Isaac and his mother now has been desperate finding
food outside and also seeing the dry field of crops, they uses to see his dad
(the farmer) happily chopping, planting and harvesting the crop for sale and part for stock food, but now Isaac's dad
is forced to go out to the city to find a job to buy food for his starving
family.
At the
afternoon
“Mom, I’m so
hungry… when does dad comes back?” ask the poor starved Isaac.
“He will be
back soon, my child … he’ll be back soon.” Answer his mother(looking very ill)
Actually
Isaac’s mother is having a malnutrition, because she spares her food to Isaac
and it is not long before Isaac has it too. It is a matter of time before his
dad comes back.
At midnight
Isaac is woken up by a strange sound that he has never heard before, he finds
out that the sound was coming from the main road (in that location the road is
not tar) and saw people in all different colors
dancing and eating at a big feast. They were eating more than enough and
drinking until they walk strangely. The mysterious sound came out of a big
black box with fence on the front Isaac thought and there were many of them.
Suddenly one person went straight up to Isaac. He walked left and right and so
on then passed out after arriving about 3 feet in front of Isaac. Isaac was
scared when the person walk towards him.
Isaac
noticed that the food on the table has been left by the strange people. He ate
the leftovers and brought some for his mother. Isaac finds out that his mother
has some kind of stomach aid and he does not know what kind of sickness, luckily
when Isaac decided to call for help his father arrived on time and able to find
out about the mother’s aid.
After a few
minutes his father suddenly quickly carry her to a nearby trolley and drove her
to a first aid camp hurry.
“Is she
going to be fine doc?” ask the father worriedly
“Don’t worry
sir, I will find out
what happen. “Replied the doctor patiently
After a few
minutes later the doctor came outside the tent where Isaac and his father
waited.
“Sir, your
wife is fine… but you must take good care of her and put food on the table to
feed her and your son so your wife and son... would not get a malnutrition." Demanded the doctor.
“Thank you
doc.. and I will take good care of my family.” Agreed dad with a relief kind of
expression of his face.
Isaac’s dad
brought Isaac and his mother home. Isaac looked at his father and noticed that
his is half dead tired and went to sleep after arriving at home. The next
morning Isaac’s father had left the hut
and went to work at the city Isaac could only now stay at the hut to look after
his mother. At mid-day Isaac is starving and thought that he could bring back
some food for his mother and of course himself so decided to go outside the
village and search for some edible foods. He could only see zebras, lion,
wildebeest, elephants, giraffe etc from a distance. He was too scared to go out
to the savanna and he is reminded about the story about a boy eaten by a hyena.
But he did
not have any choice but to go and hunt for food, at first he makes weapons to
help him kill animals. First step to the savanna and he could saw zebra jumping
around. He sneaks between the grass like a lion and throws his spear…. But
eventually he misses the zebras are too fast for Isaac’s reaction and it is not
long before he sighted another herd of zebras (what do you expect it is in the
savanna many animals). He tries again and fails again and so on and so on.
Finally at the afternoon he could kill one small size hog which he found wondering around between the grass to look some water. He brought the small hog home with pride on his face and prepared a small bonfire which would big enough to roast the small hog. His mother was proud of him, but also told him that it was dangerous in the savanna alone with the predators.
When Isaac's father went back, he saw his family eating and feasting nearby a bonfire, he can smell the delicious scent of the roasted hog. He also decided t have dinner together with his family and pad Isaac's head proudly.
"Well my boy, I guess you save your mother and me, you risk your life to feed your parents." spoke Isaac's proud father while padding him in the head gently.
Isaac continued this kind of behavior that he will go to the savanna and hunt more animals to eat and yes he also have some accidents along the way. He had this kind of habit that kept his family alive for several years until they had to move to the city because of his dad successful job.
